Sharp Systems of America, a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, today introduced the Sharp LL-151-3D display, Sharp’s first stand-alone display that features Sharp’s 3D LCD Technology. This exciting 15-inch 3D LCD monitor delivers eye-popping 3D images to the naked eye, and can be easily switched between 2D and 3D viewing for standard applications such as spreadsheets, word processing or email.
Sharp’s target with this unique monitor will include market segments that are already familiar with 3D solutions using Shutter Glasses and page sequential display mode, which are widely supported on PC using both Windows and Linux. Movies
Sharp has partnered with Dynamic Digital Depth to be able to offer 3D movie viewing with Sharp's 3D Displays. The Actius RD3D comes with the TriDef Movie Player and a number of sample movies so that you can enjoy awesome 3D movie viewing on the Sharp 3D display. Also available is the TriDef DVD Player software. This revolutionary technology product allows standard DVD movies (such as those rented at video stores) to be viewed in 3D mode even though the content is actually only 2D. The TriDef DVD Player does real time conversion, allowing the movie to be viewed exactly as you would with a standard player, except with superb 3D visualization.
Digital Images
Sharp's 3D display adds a new dimension to photos and images! Whether you have a sophisticated 3D camera or simply want to do more with your digital camera, the Sharp 3D displays allow you to take photos and view them in 3D or to view existing 3D photos. Sharp has created two products for this purpose. The SmartStereo Photo Editor allows you to take two photos using your digital camera and then ‘blend' these two photos together to form a 3D photo. SmartStereo Photo Editor compensates for common problems such as excessive ‘toe-in' of the two photos or camera rotation. The output is an image file with the two photos in the standard 3D format, left/right side-by-side. The Sharp SmartStereo Slide Show software allows you to view 3D images (in the same side-by-side format) in 3D on the Sharp 3D display. Both these products are available free of charge to Sharp Actius RD3D customers as well as those who purchase the 3D Displays. Sharp also offers a free evaluation software package, HumanEyes Lite 3D from HumanEyes. This software uses the video capability in most digital cameras to selectively create the 3D images. For those photos where there is only a single image (your typical photo), DDD offers the TriDef Photo Transformer. This software allows users to ‘add' the 3D depth information to a standard photos and then view it in 3D.
